THE ART OF LIGHT

Apr 17, 2023

How does light affect our perception of space and surroundings?
How can natural light dialogue with artificial illumination?
How do we perceive and observe objects under focused or diffuse brightness?
How differently do we recognise colour depending on the colours of light?

We respond daily to these questions without even noticing. When Elle Décor Italia imagined an installation revolving around the fundamental role of light, these questions became the path on which Metis Lighting  articulated… the Art of Light.

From Monday, April 17 to Sunday, April 23, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, which in this 2023 is also hosting EUROLUCE, we are thrilled to announce that it will be possible to immerse ourselves in a site-specific exhibition/installation, involving Studio Dell’Uva for the interior design, landscape architect Antonio Perazzi and us, Metis Lighting as lighting designers (Marinella Patetta, Claudio Valent, Zoì Katsarou, Luca Carapezzi).

The Art of Light takes place inside Palazzo Bovara, in the heart of Milan, at Corso Venezia 51, transformed into the residence of an art collector with Mediterranean aesthetics, particularly sensitive to art, design and, first and foremost, light. Common places to everyone, kitchen, bedroom, living area, as well as art galleries, areas for reflection and entertainment receive architectural light in various forms. In every space light changes; from colour temperature, intensity and direction, to colour, the rooms are experienced under different atmospheres.

Works of art, iconic furniture elements and lamps accompany the visitor in an installation always in motion, where artificial and natural light dialogue with objects and space, inspiring and igniting reflection. Differently to previous editions or common installations, we invite the guests to spend time in every room, observe the variations of light (and not only) and the rhythm between bright and darker areas working also as areas for visual adaptation.

Special thanks to all the sponsors and architectural lighting manufacturers supporting us immensely.
