Envisioning the invisible
The gift of a lighting designer
December 15th, 2025
The work of a lighting designer is truly unique.
Light stands among the most powerful elements in our perception of place, and through it, we grasp a space’s deepest meaning, we recognize its true worth. Among all the professionals involved in a project, the lighting designer possesses a rare gift: the ability to see beyond, to envision the final scene when the project exists just as an idea. This awareness, now so clear to us, has only recently crystallized.
We asked Anna Pirolli’s pencil to help us translate these words into an image that allows us to close the year, carrying with us the themes and concepts closest to our hearts, those that are the subject of daily dialogues, exchanges, and mutual enrichment.
Vision and wonder: the capacity and gift to imagine something that will truly come to be, exactly as it was envisioned and desired. Like an invisible drawing that slowly illuminates itself, emerging bit by bit, revealing itself, lighting up and astonishing us, like a small miracle.
And finally, a reflection from Anna Pirolli on her work:
“In this illustration, the architecture is still incomplete, a weave of black lines suspended in the void. It is the light, surfacing like a reflection in the dark space, that gives it weight and depth. As in Monet’s cathedrals or the luminous architectures of James Turrell, light does not merely illuminate: it anticipates volumes and renders them perceptible before they even exist.”
May this season bring you moments of light and wonder, and may the new year illuminate new visions and possibilities.
